Twin Cities Feile Results

So I know this is a little late, but here are the results from the Twin Cities Feile:

Novice Reel- 2nd place
Prizewinner Slip Jig- NP
Prizewinner Treble Jig- 2nd place
Prizewinner Hornpipe- NP

Not the best feis ever.. But next weekend I have a double feis in Milwaukee: Badger State Feis and Cream City Feis. I will be in Novice Reel, and prizewinner SJ, TJ, and HP. Again. :P I'll have 2 chances to get out of Novice for my reel. Oireachtas isn't looking very promising this year.. Oh well! Hopefully I'll be in PC by the end of the year! But now it's time to just get ready for my up coming feisianna! Wish me luck! :)

Oregon State Championship Feis Results

I had a great time this past weekend in Oregon hanging out with family, making new friends, and competing!
So here are my results:

Novice Reel- 3rd
Novice Slip Jig- 1st
Prizewinner Treble Jig- 3rd
Prizewinner Hornpipe- 1st

So yeah it was a pretty good feis!! :)
I noticed a funny thing about my hornpipe.. I've only done 4 feisianna and ever other feis I do hornpipe and both times I've done hornpipe I got 1st place.. weird.. I don't even really like hornpipe.. but I'm not complaining!! :)

My next feis is the Twin Cities Feile which is on the 18th!
My dances this time will be:

Novice Reel
Prizewinner Slip Jig
Prizewinner Treble Jig

I'm hoping to get 1st in my Reel so I can be all Prizewinner but I only ever seem to get 3rds and 4ths. Probably because Reel is usually the 1st dance of the day so I'm really nervous! So I'll be practicing a lot for that!
And I hope I'll be able to get my new Slip Jig and Treble Jig down so I can compete with them. If not then I'll have to live with doing my old steps.. fingers crossed tho! :)

A day we thank and respect them for what they have done. They died to protect us. They died for our freedoms. To keep us together as a nation.

Time for more dancing!!

So I'm going to my 1st feis of the year this weekend at the Oregon State Championship Feis! And in 2 weeks is the next Twin Cities Feile so stay tuned for that as well! I'll be posting my results when I get back! :)

Slip Jig- Novice 13&O
Treble Jig- Prizewinner 15&O
Hornpipe- Prizewinner 15&O

Hoping so get 1st places in my softshoe dances! Fingers crossed!

My results for the Chicago Autumn Feis (11.6.10):
Reel: 4th (out of 11)
Slip Jig: 3rd (out of 11)
Treble Jig: 7th (out of 24)

I was kinda bummed about my reel cause I totally failed... but I still think I did a good job for performing all those step for the 1st time except my 2nd step in reel and 2nd step in treble jig. :)

So last time I posted, I mentioned the Twin Cities Feis on June 26th. My results:
Reel: 3rd
Slip Jig: no place
Treble jig: 2nd
Hornpipe: didn't dance

Very exciting first feis.

Being in intermediate 2 is so much fun. I've been wanting to be in it since I started a year ago. And I'm way ahead of pretty much all of the other girls except the ones who were already there when I started. I'm hoping to be in advanced by next summer and hopefully I'll be in PC for a few dances. Maybe even OC and I could maybe go to oireachtas next year... :D (oireachtas means big competition in irish) ahhh I love my dance!
We did quite a few performances this summer. Like Irish Fair, and there were a bunch of other fairs in the state that we danced at. But I didn't go to them because I wasn't in performance class than and they're the ones who do the little performances. So there was Irish fair and the State fair, and I even got to go to Aberdeen, SD for a weekend for a Celtic Faire there. It was so much fun! My dance friends are like my favorite people to travel with! I love hanging out with them too!
Than there was the Minnesota Feis on September 25th. My results:
Reel: didn't place
Slip Jig: 4th place
Treble Jig: 1st place
Hornpipe: 1st place

I was SO excited when I got 1st for Hornpipe!!!! I knew I was gonna get 1st for treble jig, but I totally wasn't expecting that for hornpipe!! The music was terrible and the person played it really fast! I was trying to hard to stay on time! But it was funny cause the judge kept smiling at me while I danced. Which was kinda creepy since it was a guy... but my friend Eden said she knew I was gonna get 1st cause I was totally on time and getting at the beats and the judge kept smiling at me. But I really thought I wasn't even gonna place! Twas a good feis I must say! :)
Next up is the Autumn Feis in Chicago Heights! I don't know exactly when it is, but its at the beginning of November. My dances:

Prizewinner Treble Jig

I just learned new soft shoe dances a few weeks ago so I really need to work on them to get them ready for the feis. And I just learned a new lead around for treble jig last week and I've been working on the 2nd step like alllll summer but my teacher hasn't seen it yet. So I'll just have to wait and see what happends! :)
Thats pretty much it for dance!

PHOTOGRAPHY
I decided that I need to make a name for my photography. Not something corny like "MRLphotography"... ugh.
I found out that I love to take pictures of kids between the ages of 3-10. I don't really know why though. Its just so much fun! Even though I love taking pictures of everything, kids are just my favorite.
And I should make a fan page for my pictures on facebook. That would be really cool.
So I entered 4 pictures into the State fair and I got:
Color: 3rd place
Digital: 6th place
B&W: 6th place
B&W Tinted: 5th place

So exciting!!!!
The 3rd place picture was of my dance teacher playing his piano accordion and his youngest daughter pressing the keys with her little fingers. Its SO cute!! So much in fact that when I got my pics back from the fair, I gave that one to my teacher. I swear I had NEVER seen him so happy and excited!!! I've become famous for that picture. Its in the office at the place where I take my lessons. And it was even on a table representing the Celtic Junction at the 20th anniversary for Irish on Grand who have done a lot for my dance school. :)
I also get lots of compliments from my dance friends on my pictures too. One of my friends mom's even suggested that I should have a display at the junction for my photography! I've become very well known for my pictures at my dance school! I'm like the unofficial official photographer! :D

So thats pretty much it for now. I'll try post again with the results of the Autumn Feis.
